The Crohn's and Colitis Foundation’s mission is to cure Crohn's disease and ulcerative colitis, and to improve the quality of life of children and adults affected by these diseases.
The department raised funds for the local chapter of the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation to sponsor at least one child within the Metro area to attend Camp Oasis, a week-long camp experience in the summer for kids with Crohn’s Disease. They also participated in the “Ann Arbor Takes Steps Walk” in Ann Arbor on September 29.
Through a bottle drive, cider & doughnut sale, and a Sloppy Joe lunch the department raised $622.77. They also set up an online fundraising team, “Zeal Zest”. Through contributions from the department, their friends and relatives, Team Zeal Zest raised an additional $812. With the $250 from the credit union they donated $1,684.77 to the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation which will cover the costs of 4 children to attend Camp Oasis.
